IT IS YOU When the day has turned its revolution And the light of my eyes has passed thru the night, Let this be your say, the final conclusion, We were not strangers. We shared this portion in sincere delight. And whatever crowns you have placed on my brow Will be laid at your feet, oh Keeper of my days. For it is you who helped me and with strength did endow With the mercy you poured into this barren child. It is you who comforted and silenced my cries With a promise of peace for those willing to die. Hope to the one that will lay down their life, Parting from hatred, deceit, and strife. You led me on a way that was not my own, Called me forth from a grave and tablets of stone. Revealing a truth that is alive each day… Death is swallowed in victory long before our bodies decay. The seeds, they fall deep into the ground, To lie dormant for a time but death has its sound. The song of the faithful you so skillfully sang Till the seeds took root and from the dust life sprang. It is you, my Lord, who so freely gave Your forgiveness, your love, and a measure of faith. And with gentle caress and a word in my ear, Said as I had received, so now must I give. To me you have given a beautiful crown, A work of your hands, so at your feet I lay it down. And to you, my Love, I give all praise. Honor and glory are yours for always. October 13, 2000 |
