INTRODUCTION TO BLOOD COVENANT As we begin the series on Blood Covenant it is important always keep in mind that a covenant is a legal relationship. We who are cleansed by faith in the shed blood of God's sacrificial Lamb, Jesus Christ, are in a blood relationship with God. Jesus is our covenant head and we are his sons by the new birth. All those born to a covenant head are automatically in covenant. Covenant relationship has definite guarantees: Equality, Safety, Protection, Unbroken Fellowship, Unity, Shared Possessions, and Love. Only breaking of the law of the covenant hinders us from continuing in covenant blessings. The penalty for such rebellion is expulsion and death. However, obedience to covenant law gives us equal standing with the Head as to being joint-heirs to all that is the Father's.When born into covenant relationship (it is an act of our will and submission to our covenant Head), we lose our right to independence of life style. We become one. "He that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit." 1st Cor.6:17 KJV Please note that covenant constitutes the Heart of all God's special revelations. Psalms 25:14 KJV. When Moses wrote down the instructions God gave him there on Sinai, he called it the book of the Covenant. Ex.24:7-8 KJV; and it was sprinkled with blood. When God revealed who He is in the teaching of the Tabernacle in the Wilderness; How He fellowships with us in the seven Feast of Jehovah; The power of His Blood in the five-fold sacrificial offerings; The attributes of His Nature in the Names of God; here in Blood Covenant He reveals His heart. Revelation cannot be learned...must be revealed by His Spirit.God is a covenant God and does not operate outside His covenant. His righteousness demanded a righteous sacrificial offering in order to bring fallen man into relationship with Him again. Thus, a covenant was cut in the counsel of the Godhead before all creation was begun. In this series we will cover these aspects of Blood Covenant 1. Abraham and the Covenant 2. Covenant Example (David and Jonathan) 3. The Everlasting Covenant (Old and New) 4. Contrast of the Old and New As we learn that we, as sons of God, had no more to do with the Covenant God cut with Jesus on Calvary as Abraham did when God cut covenant with him for his progeny, Israel. He was in a sleep or "horror of darkness", and we were in the darkness of being born into the race of fallen man when our covenant Head...even Jesus Christ cut Blood Covenant for whosoever will come to Him.
Covenant blessings are not just meant to be looked at and studied and shouted
about only, but to be appropriated (put to use). Even our Lord Jesus is given to
us as the gift of God for our present use. Believer, you might not be making use
of Christ as you ought to do. He is the Gift of God to Adam's race. His gifting do not stop with salvation, nor His covenant promises ... that is where they
begin.
Do you fell naked? Our Covenant Head has provided a Robe of His Righteousness so
kneel at His feet and be clothed with His garments of Praise. This is Covenant
law...an exchange of garments. Come soul; put on the robe of Jesus'
righteousness. Stand not just looking at it, but wearing it. Perfect praise and
worship is falling on our face before Him.
