        In the beginning God created ... Elohim ... the revelation of God’s name as creator. He came in the cool of the day to fellowship with His creation in the garden. After the fall, it is recorded in Genesis 4:26 that men began to call upon the name of the Lord. As you move through the scripture you will find that the revelation of the name of the Lord to mankind is progressive. The Lord called a man named Abram out of Ur of the Chaldees and instructed him to get up, get out, and get into the place I will show you. The Lord revealed Himself to Abram as the Almighty God ... El Shaddai ... when he gave the covenant of circumcision. At that time, He changed the name of Abram and Sarai to Abraham and Sarah, giving them a portion of His own name. Succeeding generations would know the Lord as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, heirs of the covenant. During the lifespan of each of these men you will find the Lord God moving in their behalf in healing, protection, deliverance and so on. Abraham was called upon by God to a test of obedience of the covenant. At that time, the Lord revealed Himself to Abraham as the one who sees and provides ... Jehovah Jireh ... when He provided a blood sacrifice. God’s nature and character reveal His name to all who will hear. In fulfillment of the Word of the Lord to Abraham, God revealed Himself to man named Moses on the backside of the desert of Sinai. He instructed him to go to Egypt and deliver His people out of bondage. He inquired of God His name to tell the children of Israel who had sent him to deliver them. And God said unto Moses, IAM THAT I AM: and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Gen.3:14. In Gen.6:3, the Lord tells Moses that He was known to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob by the name of God Almighty, but by His name Jehovah was He not known to them. Although the Lord moved in the life of each of these patriarchs, it was not time for the revelation of this portion of God’s name. Redeemer, the one who birthed a nation by the blood of a lamb for an house. Ex:12. Later, prophets revealed other facets of the Lord’s name in their messages to the people. Isaiah 7:14, Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel...(God with us). Isaiah 9:6, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. A five-fold revelation of the name of the Lord.

        In fulfillment of the word of the Lord, at the appointed season, an angel of the Lord visited a young woman of the house of David. The angel of the Lord told her she would conceive in her womb , and bring forth a son, and call His name JESUS. And He shall be called the son of the highest. Luke 1:31,32. On the eight day after His birth He was circumcised, and His name was called JESUS. On the 33rd day after His birth, according to the law, He was brought to the temple to present Him before the Lord and a prophet and prophetess bear witness unto all that looked for redemption is Israel. The time for the revelation of the fulness of the name of the Lord had come.

        The book of St. John opens with the words, In the beginning was the WORD...But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, to them that believe on His name. John bore witness and introduced Him as the Lamb of God, a lamb for the world ... Following is a brief introduction in each chapter of John to the name of the Lord.
